Finding Hidden Assets

If you have a case against a person, you probably will not link to all assets by searching public records to be found. Judgment debtors are smart. You know you are in search of their bank accounts. Most of them have not yet open checking / savings accounts in their name.

In recent years, the Internet is a great place to have money to hide. PayPal allows, for example, people who have online accounts, either to save funds, or do business. A highPercentage of eBay users have PayPal accounts. Many online businesses use PayPal as a form of acceptance of credit cards. If you believe your debtor has a PayPal account, here is what you can do:

Have your lawyer a letter via the U.S. Certified Mail or by courier service (Fed Ex, UPS, etc..) PayPal with a subpoena (for payment or attachment if you have an opinion) to the following address:

PayPal

Attn: Legal Department - Civil

2211 N. First Street

San Jose, CA95131

Make sure that the summons / application contains the debtors full name, address, social security number. It would not hurt if the e-mail address of the debtor.

Another possibility to check find somebody assets to their waste. I always tell my clients to shread their personal information before throwing it. However, there are many careless people out there who just throw away their bank statements, stock portfolio, telephone bills, etc. ..

In most cities, it islegal is to search for chatter from someone as long as the containers are on the road or in the alley. I propose to make an adjustment with the city over its laws before you trash someone.

There are many other creative ways to hide assets. I do not want everybody here. The above steps are probably the best way to start if you need to collect on a major decision.
